Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 Review

Sleek and lightweight and remarkable placement of keys on the keyboard is the top advantages of Surface laptop 5. So, it has maintained its reputation of being one of the best laptops with the best keyboards in its price range. As mentioned earlier there are no major changes in the design and unlike other players in the market nothing, much has been done in this area or maybe is just focussing on making the specs better. The large trackpad is spacious enough but on the same hand, a few users might find that the palm rest area is less. Now, when we talk about battery backup then it’s just superb and perfect for students and office goers without worrying about charging it again and again. If there are multiple Apps that keep running in the background like slack or lots of Google meetings or any other heavy Apps then not worry as this is perfect! There is also a battery saving mode which automatically gets activated once the charge level reaches 20%. Also, it gets 80% charged up within 1 hour of charging.

Another positive of the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 is that it does not makes any kind of sound as the cooling fan perfectly works. The 12th Gen Intel Chip makes it a powerful laptop to work smoothly on multiple Apps too with the support of a split screen which further enhances the multitasking experience.

The webcam of 720P HD is good when there is enough light in the room but in low light, it struggles to maintain the image quality. Despite the PixelSense technology, the screen refresh rate of 60Hz is a bit low. Clearly, there is one major drawback of this laptop which is the lack of innovation and it seems that it is just an upgraded version of previous laptops. There are a few more points that are not taken care of like the limited number of ports.

Overall it’s a decent offering by Microsoft which is more suitable for students and for those who love typing. Moreover, it is definitely not the best option for online meetings else a good webcam would be required for evening or lowlight calls. Anyways, if such an amount is being spent on buying this type of configuration then a good webcam is a must. Nowadays, most of the work is being done online and work from home so a complete package is required for that.

Is Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 better than its predecessor?

It is a good mix of old and latest features which many users will like. However, there are other brands like Dell and Apple Macbook Air 2 which give tough competition to Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 in its price range when compared with the overall specs and features. Hence, it’s a good choice but may not be the best option as compared to Apple or Dell also in terms of style and design. Here, we have checked the highest specs like 16GB RAM and removable SSD but there are many other variants that are available as per the requirement and upgrades can be done at any time.
